Learning to be present in the moment

timeIt is still dark at home, as Miss Pépettes has finished eating her food on my desk. Yes, I am sharing my desk with her otherwise I could have a revolution at home. I love my home to be peaceful.

I was thinking about the outdoors, I dearly enjoy the times I sit down on the deck. It is not only peaceful, but the singing of the birds made it even better. Hearing the frogs, even as loud they can be, it is a great reminder of our ecosystem

How fragile it is, when I moved into my home our pond didn’t had any frogs. It took several years and a great neighbor to finally revived nature and bring it back into our yards. With native plants we were able to bring back the frogs, turtles and finally the ducks were able swim in it. We found a way to keep geese at bay, we can actually enjoy walking around without worrying about them.

Listening and watching the ponds from my deck, with the new life brought back into it, is a beautiful gift to me. On a dark summer night when we do not want to use the AC to cool the house, it is always a treat to open all the windows and enjoy the breeze coming in.

The sounds of the frogs are like a lullaby, it is always a great way to fall asleep.

It is a beautiful communion with the Universe to be with nature. Even from my deck I can enjoy the fresh air but also observing and listening with my eyes closed to this busy world.

Taking the time to hear different birds communicating with each other, the wind in the trees, the sun on my shoulders, it is when you are learning to become more present in your life. Leaving the artificial noise ie the phone, TV, radio etc. Being able for a moment to quiet your mind and tune to your surrounding

Everyone should take the time to do that. If you do not have a backyard but have a park near your home, you should do the same kind of exercise, leave the superficial noise out and listen to your surroundings.
