Lately I feel that some individuals are still not getting the message, we need to be authentic stop trying to be smooth operators.
When you are speaking with subordinates or customers do not spend your time comparing your company with other companies.
Giving your “speech” is not going to inspire anyone. You are not speaking from the heart but from your ego. If you are telling someone we have made some changes, please list at least 2 or 3 changes, we are not gullible. Be transparent, show what the company has done so far. Employees and customers will know if you are not authentic.
It just happened yesterday, I had someone approaching me from a company. He had a few things to share with me. Nothing he was telling me sounded right. I started to “challenge” him about it, his reflex was to compare his information to another company. I stopped him in his tracks, brought the conversation back to his company. I made it very clear to him that I wasn’t interested in the other company but instead the one he was from. He tried to convey a message about changes, improvement etc. That again didn’t feel right, I ask him for specifics. He couldn’t give me any, which set up another red flag for me.
Something people do not realized, is, as a six sensory, when something is wrong I go deep to bring the facts to the surface. I asked him about transparency? He tried again to smooth things and back pedal. I smiled and let him know so far, I have not seen any transparency from his company. But I would love to see it happening. The conversation ended with him backtracking and spinning everything he was trying to say.
At the end of the day people need to stop pointing fingers in every direction when someone is asking the right questions. Just be honest and answer, you need to be able to see your company for what it is. Trying to sell magic dust to everyone will not work. You are foolish if you think you are a smooth operator, thinking everyone you speak with is gullible or naive. Do not make that mistake, look around closely at people’s’ reactions when you are speaking. You could be surprised to see what people think every time you are not authentic.
Be honest, be authentic, be you. People are not interested in how eloquently or loquacious you may speak, what they want is to know what you are saying is true and to trust you.
I’m still learning from you, as I’m trying to reach my goals. I definitely liked reading everything that is posted on your website.Keep the stories coming. I liked it!
